Heat class

Every comforter has a heat class. In total there are four classes, these indicate how warm a quilt actually is. Duvets with heat class 1 are the hottest, ideal for cold attic and bedrooms. Also optimal for people who are cold in the night. A duvet with class 2 can be used all year round by people who are not too cold or too hot during sleep. Heat class 3 is ideal for warm bedrooms and sleepers who get warm quickly. A duvet with class 4 is the solution for sleeping comfort during warm summer nights, this is also the thinnest type of duvet.

Single or 4 seasons quilt?

You can also choose from single and four seasons duvets. The difference is that a 4 seasons duvet consists of two parts, in most cases a spring / autumn part (class 3) and a summer part (class 4). The two parts can be used separately or be attached to each other. Together the parts are then good for heat class 1.

Comforter

The strongest qualities of a down duvet are the environmental friendliness (composition of exclusively natural materials), optimal heat insulation, very good ventilation and excellent moisture regulation. Down immediately absorbs moisture, making the duvet feel comfortable. If you do not use the duvet during the day, the moisture will be released to the environment again. In addition, a down comforter is lighter than the other types. With a higher percentage of down, the quilt is lighter and the properties are also better. To enjoy down for a long period of time, it is advisable not to sit down regularly (and certainly not jump!) On your down comforter. If you do this, the down can (locally) break, so that the strong properties can decrease. It is also advisable to have a down duvet professionally cleaned. However, if you shake it daily and let the bedroom air for 1 or 2 hours, cleaning is only necessary once every 4 or 5 years.

Quilt of hollow fibers

The filling of these duvets consists of hollow fibers (hollow fiber). The strongest features of this type are the low price and the suitability for machine wash. The duvets can be washed at high temperatures in the washing machine, in that respect they are maintenance-friendly than down. The insulation, ventilation and moisture regulation are less than those of down, but here is the price.

Summer duvets

Many people also want to sleep under a duvet in the summer months. As a result, however, people sweat more and this makes for a bad night's sleep. For a comfortable night's sleep, it is best to opt for a summer duvet in the summer months. In the case of a summer duvet, you sweat less because of the thinner filling and better ventilation.
